HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Police said as many as 400 people and businesses in Alabama and Georgia may be victims of a scam involving stolen credit card and debit card numbers.

An investigation revealed Wednesday involves hundreds of cases in which card numbers were stolen after cards were used at Huntsville restaurants and carryout businesses.

Police and the FBI have surveillance videos from hotels and discount stores in Oxford and the Atlanta area where suspects were seen using the card numbers, Huntsville Public Safety Director Rex Reynolds said in a statement.

The suspects on the surveillance videos could be from the Huntsville area, police said.

The joint police and FBI investigation began May 21, and now may involve as many as 400 victims, including consumers and banks, police said.

Decatur native starts biodiesel business, and stays involved with ballooning as a sponsor of Jubilee Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version
    Tuesday, May 29 2007 @ 09:33 PM Etc/GMT

While Drew Gentry crews for balloons that use propane gas, his new business focuses on a fuel that may help reduce United States dependence on foreign oil.

Gentry, a Decatur native who lives in Huntsville, and fellow student Justin Anthony from Birmingham, both 22, recently founded their company, EnerSight Fuels Inc., to produce biodiesel fuel.
