Word, Sound and Power is a community creative writing group based in Huntsville Alabama . WSP is dedicated to using Spoken Word/poetry to motivate, teach and unify Humanity. Our Spoken Word/poetry events are designed to enlighten and motivate writers to share their art to affect a positive change.
WSP was founded by Poets Shawana Ariel and Shangra-La.
December 6, 2008 WSP hosted the Poetic Male Review. This was the first ever Poetic Review in Huntsville ! Over 85 people from established poetry groups and new writers attended this event and supported the host establishment. We are anticipating a much larger response for our 2009 Six Series of events.
WSP is working in the Huntsville Alabama area to promote literacy through the art of Spoken Word. We have designed a series of charity events to raise funds for local kindergarten to eighth grade schools. Our objective is to donate a major classroom gift to each grade at our target school. This gift would support creative writing, reading and child development projects. We would like your support in this endeavor by a sponsorship donation of 50.00. Your business or institutions name will be listed in our program for the February 21st event featuring Interantionally acclaimed Spoken Word Artist Heru.
