Nonprofit dental clinic for children opens
A new dental clinic in Boaz is designed to help people with Medicaid and AllKids insurance.
Sarrell Regional Dental Center opened last week at 603B Medical Center Parkway. It’s the sixth location of a group that provides dental care across portions of Alabama.
The center is a nonprofit pediatric dental clinic for people with Medicaid or AllKids. It sees patients from ages 2 to 20.
“There’s not a lot of providers in our area, especially, that will see kids like that,†said Alaina Young, who works out of Sarrell Regional’s Boaz office.
Dr. Joey Robinson, a UAB graduate, will do dental work at the new Boaz office.
Dr. Warren Sarrell, a cardiologist in Anniston, started the clinics. There are now locations in Anniston, Talladega, Heflin, Bessemer and Enterprise, plus a mobile “dental bus†that can be driven to areas where dental care is needed.
Brandi Mangum Parris, chief marketing officer for Sarrell Regional Dental Center, said the clinic will be involved in community work, particularly in educating people about dental care before problems develop.
“Mainly with dental, if it doesn’t hurt, people aren’t going to get the regular checkups and cleanings,†she said.
Sarrell Regional Dental Center celebrated its grand opening in Boaz on Friday with an open house. The telephone number is 840-2021.
