Huntsville New Year’s Eve Party by Downtown 47
December 27th, 2008You may have heard of an effort to bring more vitalization to downtown Huntsville. The Downtown 47’s soul purpose is to help fund it.
“We are a group of forty-seven 25-54 year olds that care about downtown Huntsville. We’ve banded together. We’ve made an initial investment ourselves and we will repeat that initial investment for the rest of our lives as a group together,” said Downtown 47 Vice President Olly Orton.
This New Year’s Eve the group will host a big party to ring in the new year at the VBC.
It’s for those 21 and up.
“We expect to have maybe five to seven or eight hundred people there. It’s an invitation party. If you’re interested in an invitation you can go to the web site…downtownfortyseven.com to request one. We’ve got great band, great food and it should be a great evening,” said Orton.
Since it is a fundraiser… Tickets are 100 dollars in advance and 125 at the door.
There will be complimentary beer and wine with a cash bar.
All the proceeds will go to help benefit the downtown area.
“What we are very particular about is not duplicating any existing groups that support downtown in anyway. We may fund them, but all the money will be to revitalize downtown in some manner or another where it be to invest in properties that serve to improve or maybe outside art or cleaning up,” said Orton.
