BELLINGHAM — Horizon Bank has announced that it will close its office at 801 Alabama St. and move the accounts to its other branch at 2122 Barkley Blvd.
The move will be effective March 27, 2009, according to a company press release. The branchs regular services, including the ATM, will be available through that date.
The Alabama office has been a Horizon Bank branch since it acquired the Bank of Bellingham in 1999.
We considered this consolidation action carefully and determined that customers could be served effectively from our Barkley office, or any of our other three offices in Bellingham, said Dennis Joines, president and chief operating officer of the company, in a press release.
Customer accounts will automatically be transferred to the Barkley office, and the change wont require most customers to do anything. Safety deposit box customers will have the option of moving items to another office or authorizing Horizon Bank to do it for them.
Joines said the five employees at the office will move to the Barkley office or to other positions within Horizon Bank.
The building will be placed up for sale after the March closing, however, its still too early for further details, said Bellinda Oosterwyk, vice president of marketing and investor relations manager.
Horizon Financial Corp. is a bank holding company based in Bellingham. The corporation’s primary subsidiary, Horizon Bank, operates 19 branch locations, four commercial banking centers and four mortgage loan centers throughout Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish and Pierce counties.
