Who: The Bridge, meeting for the Launch Service Sunday, 10:30 a.m., at Farley Elementary School, 2900 Green Cove Road
Congregational motto: “Helping people bridge the gap between themselves and God.”
What makes you different from other congregations: We believe that God longs to be in a relationship with you and me, and it is only through this relationship that we can become and receive all that God has planned for us. The vehicle that God uses for us to discover, unwrap, explore and execute this plan is discipleship. So here at the Bridge, our purpose is to make and grow disciples.
As God says through the prophet Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans that I have for you. They are plans for good and not for calamity. They will provide you a future and a hope.”
Denominational affiliation: United Methodist
Biggest challenge you’ve faced: I have been amazed at the hand of God working throughout this process. Doors have been opened and true miracles have been performed since we begun work about a year and a half ago.
We have already had to hire a youth director, and we haven’t even started worship. Parents are stepping up and filling in where needed with the younger children.
How you’re getting the word out: Word of mouth is always going to be the best and fastest way of getting the word out.
However, we have also launched a campaign on TV, at the Huntsville Stars games and have sponsored events at Farley Elementary. This allows us to be a positive force in the community while also getting our name and logo into the public eye.
Advice to other new congregations: Keep it Simple.
We direct our focus to three areas: Worship, growing in our faith and serving others. Everything we do is directly related to one of the three areas.
Best outcome so far: The best thing to come out of The Bridge has been to witness people growing in their faith journey.
There are a great many people in our community who are trying to accomplish life on their own, and they are finding themselves very empty. We are not created to do life by ourselves; we are created to be in relationships. God’s desire is for us to be in a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ and to be in relationships with others. People need other people!
The Bridge is a group of people who want to help each other take the next step in their faith journey - whatever that step may be .
Next project: Our next project is to develop more small groups.
At The Bridge, we believe spiritual growth takes place when people are personally challenged and encouraged in their relationship with God and others. We believe the best place for sustained spiritual growth to occur is within an “intentional relational group.”
