Huntsville homes most affordable in Alabama
September 10th, 2008Mobile has the most expensive housing market in Alabama, while Huntsville’s is the most affordable, according to a survey released Tuesday by the Coldwell Banker real estate firm, which examined home values across the nation.
Coldwell Banker Home Price Comparison Index compares prices for similar 2,200-square-foot, four-bedroom, 2½-bath homes in 315 U.S. markets. The most expensive market: La Jolla, Calif., where that home cost $1.84 million. The least: Sioux City, Iowa, where it cost $133,459.
The Coldwell Banker survey actually didn’t detect a great price difference between Mobile and Huntsville.

The 2,200-square-foot home cost $228,750 in Mobile and $218,267 in Huntsville - a difference of just $10,483.
Birmingham was not included in the survey.
