huntsville policeThe Fallen Officers Memorial Fund is inching closer and closer to it’s goal.

Sunday evening, Mayfair Church of Christ in Huntsville presented Public Safety Director, Rex Reynolds with a check for more than $22,000.

The entire event, including the check presentation, was part of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

Michael Walker with the Department of Public Safety said officers always put their lives on the line.

He said it warms his heart to see officers get recognition for their work in protecting the community.

“In this job every time you put a badge or uniform on. You go into an unknown. Any call can be that final call. Everyday is a risk,” he said.

With this recent check it boosts the amount raised to about 150-thousand dollars.

Public Safety Director Rex Reynolds said the money raised brings the reality of the Memorial being built much closer than ever before.

The price tag to build it: $450,000.
