[HUNTSVILLE, AL] - Interested in doing business with the Federal Government? July’s Lunch and Learn will be on the topic pf “Small Business Certifications.” Learn how to find federal business opportunities on the web. Get information on Small Business Administration (SBA) certifications for small disadvantaged businesses and for some companies located in designated high unemployment areas. The SBA offers numerous programs and initiatives to help small businesses obtain government contracts. Learn as much as you can about available programs. It could make a difference in your ability to succeed as a government contractor.

This month’s Lunch and Learn will be presented by Susan Baxter with the SBA. Ms. Baxter has been with the SBA since 1977 and has been working in her current position for approximately four years. Prior to this position, she has worked in various capacities, which included managing SBA resources as well as working with existing and prospective business owners.

As Lead Business Development Specialist (BDS), Ms. Baxter is responsible for helping small businesses prepare to gain opportunities in the Federal market. She provides training and assistance on SBA’s certification programs, including 8(a) Business Development (BD), Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) and HUBZone. A portfolio of approved 8(a) BD firms is managed and reviewed annually to insure compliance with Business Development regulations.

Lunch will be provided by Jason’s Deli (pay at door - cash or company check made payable to Jason’s Deli) and reservations are required online at www.wbcna.org or by calling WBCNA at 256-213-2727. Lunch is optional, so let us know if you plan to eat.

Important Note: Lunch registrations and/or cancellations must be received no later than 5 p.m. on the Monday before the Lunch and Learn. If you are unable to attend and do not cancel by the deadline, you will be billed for cost of the lunch you ordered.

We have reserved the last half hour of each Lunch & Learn for networking. The Lunch & Learn is held at the Crestwood Women’s Center at 185 Chateau Drive in Huntsville. A map with directions can be found on the website.
