Alabama Housing Prices Rise
Housing prices in Alabama rose at a faster clip in the past year than in all but a few states, according to a report Thursday that cast plenty of gloom on the nation’s ailing housing market.
The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight said home prices in Alabama climbed 4.46 percent in the first quarter compared with the same period in 2007 - fifth highest among the states.
Wyoming was No.1, with a 6.34 percent gain during the year, according to the agency, whose survey is based on data from home sales and appraisals for refinancings. Utah, Montana and Texas followed.
