Alabama Gas prices inch higher:
Gas prices in Alabama continue to inch higher and shatter records.
AAA Alabama officials said the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline climbed one penny in Birmingham to $3.61 on Monday. The price a year ago in Birmingham was $2.86, AAA said.
Mobile recorded the highest average price among state metro areas on Monday - $3.65, up 2 cents. Gas remained unchanged in Huntsville at $3.62. Prices in all Alabama cities set records.
Alabama’s average Monday was $3.62, a dime less than the national average.
The U.S. Energy Department expects prices to peak in June, with an a monthly average price of $3.73. Some analysts say the national average could crack $4.
